Welcome to My Puppy Story! This blog is all about my adventures into puppy-hood. Although I have grown up with dogs, from Yorkies to Rotties, I am considered by those who know me best to be a crazy cat lady. I have two cats that I absolutely adore, both of which I fostered their litters and adopted while in college at UF. I've had them for over 6 years now (Sir Nicholas was born 10/25/2003 and Peanut 7/23/2004). Even though I love cats, I also love dogs! It's just harder to have dogs than it is cats. I'm sorry to say that I have no blog about my kitties, but if you're interested you can check out all their cute pictures throughout the years here.
Now on to puppy stories!
I have been wanting a dog for years, but it has just never been the right time. They have drastically cut my hours at work however, so I decided if it was ever going to happen, now is the time.
I will admit, I have been stalking Orange County Animal Services, Seminole County Animal Services, Central Florida SPCA and Petfinder online. I did find an adorable white and brown red-nose pitbull puppy (my favorite breed!), but I was too late showing up the next day and someone had already adopted her. I knew puppies went quick, but man that was quick!
When I got up this morning I decided I would just pop into OCAS and the SPCA for a quick look. That's when I found her. A 3ish month old stray dumped in Pine Hills (West Colonial Drive and Powers Drive for those who are familiar with Orlando) and picked up by OCAS last night. They think she's an Australian Shepherd/Doberman mix. I can definitely see those two breeds in her, but who really knows. I will call her my pure-bred mutt :) She's super friendly, playful and curious and she was cuddly when I held her. She didn't seem too bitey (which you would expect puppies to be). I couldn't believe she didn't already have a hold on her! I quickly filled out an application and got in line. As it turns out, the two people behind me in line were also trying to adopt her, so I got dibs on her just in the nick of time! Now I just have to wait to make sure an owner doesn't claim her and then she needs to get spayed. They said it won't be until the end of this week, or most likely beginning of next week until I can come get her.
I am keeping my fingers crossed!
